Hebrews
12:7-11
11; No discipline seems
pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it
produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have
been trained by it.
When people run in to a
critical decision in their life they tend to act on what they
have been taught. And if what they have been taught is that God
will get them through it, “this too shall pass”, well that
could be the wrong answer. And yes I know God will in fact get
His people through situations, but will the results be what God
desires if others intervene. God either squeezes people or He
lets Satan sift them. And whichever, God has a reason and a
plan, and the end result should be poured out wine. God has no
use for grapes. And He has no use for grape juice. The only way
you can have wine is to squeeze the grape, then the juice has to
ferment. Without this process there will be no wine. But if you
let the wine age to little or to long it becomes useless.
This is what happens to
many people; They get squeezed, and as soon as they begin to
hurt someone bails them out of their situation; many times
before God has been given a chance to reveal to them what He has
in store for them. And if they do get pressed into juice many
begin to ferment with out the right ingredients and the wine
ends up being of no use to God. Sometimes even with the right
ingredients the wine sets on a pew and ages beyond the desires
of God, then it, just as the unfermented becomes bitter in His
mouth.
Sometimes
we let the needs of people get in the way of what God desires us
to do; sometimes we let our compassion for others override God's
plan, and when we interfere with a situation God has placed
others in without direction from Him; we interfere with what God
desires of them. We have been taught the Christian thing would
be to help them with their problems with finances or some other
means. However if
we interfere by helping them in the wrong way; will the
results be what God desires? Before jumping in and helping
someone be sure God has laid it on your heart to do so. Ask God
for guidance, pray fervently and wait on Him to give an answer;
He will if you listen.
Maybe
God is squeezing you. If He is, don’t ask “why”. Ask God
through prayer and petition “what”, what are you trying to
revel to me through this situation. He may be trying to bring
you to a point where you have no choice but to depend on Him. He
may be bringing you to a stronger relationship with him. He may
be bringing you to a place in your life where you need to make a
lifestyle change. He may be bringing you to a place where you
need to make a commitment to be of service to His kingdom
through long or short-term missions.
If you listen for His answer the end result will be
poured out drink for Him.
