Unspoken Thoughts

To be God's child is great, and it has many benefits that we can feel thrilled to be able to enjoy. But there's another important side to this relationship: As God's children we have responsibilities to fulfill.

Our first responsibility is to put God at the top of our priority list. Exodus 20:2-4 2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 "You shall have no other gods before [1] me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

He should be the first person we consult when we have difficulty in our live. We seem to turn to our family and friend for help or support when we hit on tough times. Or we seek worldly advise from books on how to get through the problems which come our way. How often we lament over pain and suffering in our lives, some how we seem to forget that Jesus will always be there for us. Romans 8:35-39 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."[1] 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[2] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God should be consulted prior to making and important decisions we need to make. Matthew 6:32-34 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

 Also see 2 Chronicles 18:3 1 Kings 22

He should be the first person we thank when we receive any reward or reach a point of accomplishment in our lives. 1 Thessalonians 517pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
19Do not put out the Spirit's fire

Second we have the responsibility to our family. God provided each of us with a help mate when He ordained the family in Gen. 2:23,24 , we should love and respect our spouse as God has laid out in His word. Our spouse should come before our own self-interest, Ephesians 5:24-26
24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing [1] her by the washing with water through the word,

The children we have are a blessing Psalm 127:3;. We are to raise our children using guidance from scripture Proverbs 22:6.

Third we have the responsibility to serve Gods people. Galatians+5.13 13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature[1] ; rather, serve one another in love. In James 2:18 we are told that without works our faith is worthless. I believe we are here to serve those we come in contact with, I believe that when we fail to share what God has blessed us with, time, talent and resources we fail God. Throughout Jesus’ walk and teaching his example was to be a servant to others. The parable of the “Good Samaritan” is an example, which should be followed by each of us.

As God is the gardener and Christ is the vine, if we are to be His branches we will spread the good news of Christ while sharing His love and serving His people.
